My son attends SU and he has been very happy there. Their roster looks big but they have a full JV program also. Emphasis is on academics and all the freshman are followed through their first year to make sure they are staying on task with school work. If you do not attend class you do not dress..period!! The coaches work very closely with the professors to make sure players are students first! If you have any questions pm me!
Can anyone offer any more insight into the academics and campus atmosphere? I have looked at the website and seen the literature the college has sent to my son, but I am looking for more objective information from anyone who knows the school well. I guess the bottom line question is always this: Is this a school to which you would send your son?
My son and I visited (on our own) the campus and after a 2-3 minute drive through the main street of campus, my son said, "Is that all there is?". It's a small, but nice campus....to be fair, it seems like its growing. Dorms seem small and as I recall there were maybe 3 or 4. Again, SU is a small school. I'd guess the enrollment is 2-3000 with a large number of commuters, you can look this up.

Nice football facility...but its at the edge of the campus (on the other side of I-81). Baseball field is, again, off the edge of campus. It's not bad, but it appears as though it is part of a county park, that maybe the college helps to maintain. I'm sure someone else can help here. And, finally, Winchester is not Washington, DC or a suburb.

If you are looking for a small school environment, good academics (I think), with a good (and getting better)baseball program....then, SU might be for you. If you are looking for big college atmosphere....then, probably best to keep looking.
Shenandoah Baseball is an up and coming program under Coach Anderson. He runs a tight ship and does not allow the kids to fool around. Keeps them in class and forces them to do the right things. Your kids will be well suited for the real world once you go through his program. They went to the D3 world series only after a few years at SU. Yes it is a small campus but most D3's are in that category. DC & Baltimore are only an hour to hour &half away so you have options when out of season.
My advice is take a visit and listen to what they have to you say. Do not forget if you are playing college sports its like having a full time job so do not think you will have all of this time to goof off.
