I just got back from the Shields Legion Tournament in Rhode Island hosted by College Select.

I must say, the quality of play was surprisingly high. Most of the players were incoming high school seniors, and the level was consistently well above what I expected. there were also many scouts there from many schools, including several top D1, and some MLB scouts at our games for a specific player on our team (our catcher if anyone saw the Wolfpack games). As for the field complex, it was very disappointing. Although it had very easy access, the fields were terrible. the fences were too long and out of line, the outfield was hilly and the infield dirt looked like crushed dark cement.

Overall, the experience was oustanding and I recommend College Select tournaments in the future if they are all run like this.

P.S. a quick question for TRhit, when are the rosters going to on the website? Someone said rosters and stats would be there when we got home, and they aren't. Just curious

I dont know who the someone was who gave you the info regarding the rosters and stats--- we do not post stats--there will be a review posted when I return from this weeknds showcase event at Coastak Carolina University

I am glad to hear that you had an outstanding experience and we expect to have the Wolfpack team with us in 2006.

I am sorry you felt that way about the fields but we cannot control the fence depth and as for the infield there were very few bad hops in the 45 games. The dark material is a special clay that drains well as seen by the fact that the fields were all set to go at 9 AM on the morning after the previous nights deluge.

Hope to see you next year
TRHit-

I take it back the fields weren't bad considering the downpour of rain we had. The only reason I think we thought of it as a negative was because we had the 8:30 game three days in a row, and the field was very wet (on top of the fact that we were probably very irritable from lack of sleep). Thank you for a good, solidly run event and yes, I will definately try to convince Stan to enter us next year.
