I never thought that I'd get the chance to do this, because our team over the last couple years has been real young and lost alot of games. I'll make this short. I started at our school when I was a freshman, our team finished about 500 that year and were OK. We lost close games and being a freshman the season is still kind of a blur. Sophmore season we lost alot of seniors and I was moved to 2B. Second preseason game we got pounded by an avearge team. Coach went off and put me at SS, moved the senior SS to the OF, put a junior a 2B and another soph in center, catcher and at 3B. Our season went real bad and we went 9-17.

Last season we finished 15-12 and won our district with 6 junior starters, a soph and a senior. (And no pitching). We are a 3A school.

This season we are 7-0 and last night beat Palm Beach Gardens a 6A school who is nationally ranked, 4-0. So far we have beaten two state ranked teams (one was a Florida 1A runner-up). I'm really pround of our team and our Coach who took a big chance on us a couple seasons ago. He is 10 wins away from his 600 career win.

I know the season is early, but we are very focused and know what it's like to lose and we think we've had our share and don't want to do it again. I'm just really proud of my team and coach.

We finished the season 21-8 and #11 in the state. The bats disappered at the end of the season and we lost to a couple team that we shouldn't have. But thats the way it goes. Coach Kokinda won his 601st game during the year. I wish we could have gone on because I really think that we had the talent to do it. Then again, its alot better than going 8-17 or something like that.

For the parents that think going from team to team and school to school just for baseball. If your kid is happy at the school and getting a good education, stay there. Even if your kid is a stud that can mash. If they're good, someone will see them. If you've got a coach that cares about his players and knows some baseball, stay.

If every good player jumps to another team you'll never know how good your team could have been. The kids I played with stuck together and became a pretty good team. Now, we've got kids coming to our school because of how well we did. Our JV team went 17-5 and we've got a couple stud sophs.

I don't want to sound too cocky or anything, but I think because I stayed and didn't jump to another high school who had a great great program, it's helped our school's program. People know me down here and I'm really proud to say that I stayed at my school and am now going on to college and playing ball.
I cannot agree with you more!! My son too went to a small school (private) for the education and ended up helping the school and his team become a good "baseball school". Have never regretted a minute even after only winning 5 games his first year. We are now state ranked and came within one game of the state playoffs. He is having no problem getting seen and is having a great high school experience.
