shocker coaching changes

Dallas TV station announced Stephenson taking the job at OU on their sports tonight.

Question.... the OU press release says Stephenson is 59 years old and yet it says he graduated from Missouri in 1958!? So... either he is really 69 years old, or he was 12 when he graduated from college! Do the math...

As to Stephenson's age, the OU release says he graduated college in '68, so his being 59 sounds about right.

The part of this story that is unfortunately typical of today's coaches is that on July 9 Stephenson swore he was not leaving Wichita, had no talks with OU and wasn't going anywhere two days later.......

They caught their error - originally it said 1958.

Well ... it didn't last long .. shorter than the Southern Cal basketball coaching change last year and just a tad shorter than Wally Backman's announcement as Mgr of the Dbacks !!! The latest release from Wichita States declares that Stephenson is NOT going to Oklahoma due to unresolved scholarship issues.

In the article on the WSU website he claims that "OU has always been our dream job,..." . Does
anyone besides me think this is one crazy comment for a coach to make after going back to a school he just jilted the day before, and equally crazy for the school to put on their official
website even if the quote was made?????

it is amazing what coaches, schools and administrators expect from kids and they conduct themselves like this.

I thought that was a pretty strange comment as well. OU seems like a great school, sits in Norman, OK which has a wonderful community of wonderful people, and has a gorgeous college campus. But I think it is pretty weird to say it is your "dream job" as you return to your original post. Plus, I thought it was also a little weird that he spoke in the plural all the time ... we, our, etc.
