I heard a sound bite yesterday about Prince Fielder stating this would probably be his last season in Milwaukee. I guess the implication was that the Brewers would not be able to afford his new contract. I'm not sure where he thinks his contract is going...he made $11 million last year and $15.5 million in 2011.

Anyway...I think he should stay.

Milwaukee is the only team he's played for. They have put together a really nice team that has a serious chance of winning it all this year. Milwaukee is a nice Midwest city, it's not NY or LA. I think their fans would really appreciate a superstar player who doesn't chase the biggest contract he can find.

What do they call this...pie in the sky thinking?

P.S. Same thing goes for Pujols and St. Louis.

If you found out you just won $60 million on the lottery, how excited would you be? That's probably about the difference in what Milwaukee can pay him vs what he'll get on the market for a 5-7 yr contract.
Now, if you were told you had to move away from the town you lived in to collect, would you? I wish more folks would say no, but...

I know, I know. There's the "how much do you need to be happy" argument and he is going to be very wealthy either way.
