I was pitching in highschool and strained my arm cause i didnt stretch after working out. i let my arm rest for a few weeks and when my school made it pretty far i had to pitch games going all 7 innings. i continued playing some summer ball throwing about 80 pitches every 7 days. i may have strained my shoulder some more my last couple games. seasons been over about 3 wks and my shoulder feels kinda weak and still hurts some. i stopped throwing and ive been doing rotator cuff excersises every day or every other. anyone know how long a strained rotator cuff may take to heal? and is there a chance that full recovery may not occur? Thanks

Muscles in your back work to slow down the arm and can be worn down after constant throwing. An easy way to see if this is your problem is have your dad or someone see if your shoulder blade on your throwing arm is considerably lower (or maybe higher) than your non-throwing arm. With your thumbs point towards the ground, extend your arms and raise them until they are parrallel, have someone check if one side does something different than the other. Chances are that there will be at least a little bit, due to that side having the stress, but if it's a lot, then every time you throw (and I don't know this technically, not a doctor, just what I remember), you basically rubbing tendons, ligaments and bones because they aren't "fitting" in the right spot on the shoulder. I've had this problem, and there are some very good exercises that can be done to fix this. One quick way to start--before seeing a doctor-- would be to simply have good posture--> keep your shoulders back and don't slouch (sp?).
It could be shoulder impingement. Google it. Try webmd. You can find some stretches to do & learn a lot about the shoulder. Go see a sports Doctor! Rest it.Keep anti-inflamatories in your system til you see the Doctor. Also ice won't do any harm. My son has it right now. It's been 4 weeks and he is doing much better. Doc said he can pitch a little in a few weeks as long as he does what he says. Going to the doctor told him what was wrong so he could start re-habing it the right way to get back on the bump.Good luck
