We are starting to see this is our area tourneys are now open 15-18,college squads invited as well but they are having the college guys play the hs fresh teams 2 of the 4 games and as you could imagine it does not go real well lol. The games are all juco events with the host school supposed to be evaluating players. Im just trying to figure out why would a 21 year old junior even show up when I was playing I prob would have left on spot if we had to play a 16u team. Just kinda curious on yalls thoughts in this and if this is a new issue that is occuring thanks

I've seen some JUCO teams in events in NC...I have not seen them play 15-16U teams...my guess is that the College entered the tourney and maybe there is only 1 or 2 17/18U teams in the tourney.  I'm sure they would prefer not to play high school freshman/sophomores.  I'd love having them in the tourney though...to me showcase is about exposure not wins/losses.

Only time I've seen JuCo players competing against players that young is at a D1 college specific camp, rather than a showcase type tournament.  JC guys looking to transfer to D1's sometimes show up at these camps.  younger players trying to get use to the camp/showcase routine show up too.   When it comes time to play games,  you sometimes have no choice but to have a 15 year old face a JC pitcher trying to get noticed.

It is a great experience for the HS players to learn the game and gain "quickness" of the mind, body and to be coached by pro scouts. Southern California also have similar events.

Yup, that's what my son's scout team did with not playing other scout teams in Northern Cal.   It seemed to be a great confidence booster for them to play the older more mature players, though the Juco teams tended to not have as much talent.
