Sook ...

TPM gave you very good advice ... read the timeline, print it out, set up some practical goals from the timeline, etc. The information is there so that young men like you can benefit.

I would also suggest that you get your parents involved in the process ... you are coming to this site and asking total strangers for information and recommendations etc, but little of it can come to fruition (my opinion) without some support from your parents.

Now as to your specific questions:

This is a try-out, right? Not an actual showcase? Is there a fee involved? Are you sure the e-mail is legitimate? (Our son participated in a regional TeamOne showcase several years ago and there was no 'try out' and the invitation came in the mail, not on the computer.) So you might want to be cautious, and again, get your parents involved.

None of us have any idea of whether participating in a try-out would give you exposure, or if you should attend. If you are really interested, have your parents get involved, investigate the situation, and then decide.

In closing, I have a question for you ... are you reading the information on this site and trying to apply it to your situation? I have looked at quite a few of your posts, some of which seem a bit 'cheeky' in response to helpful and serious adults, and you seem to keep asking the same question in different forum, sometimes repeating the question more than twice if you don't receive an immediate answer. I think that if you are truly serious, you will take the advice the adults have given you, use some of the tools provided on this site (e.g., you asked in one post what to include in a letter to coaches, and I am pretty sure this is on the site already), take some concrete action on your own and with your parents' support, and enjoy yourself while learning as much about the game as you can.
Team One used to have one of the best showcases reputatuins 8-10 years ago... I heard they joined forces with Baseball factory.... IMHO they are mainly about $$$$

In my case I was dissappointed in them as I signed up my older son6 months early for a showcase, as they offered a discount. But it was for the weekend after the USA Tournament of Stars and there if you made the top 30 you stayed an extra week, for final team selection. To combat this with the top prospects Team one put in a clause that if you made the USA team they would refund your money... Well my son made one of the 30 spots at TOS and had to stay the extra week and missed the Team One showcase... but he was not one of the final 18 to make the Team... I called Tean one and asked for a refund and they denied it saying your son did not make the team... but he was select for the trials which created the conflict... Too bad was their reply...

I felt this was misleading and poor business practice and so I cannot give TEAM One a good recommendation....

Go the PG site and sign up for an invitation...

Now My younger son is showcasing this summer and he will not attend a Team One event.

assumed that to mean all 30 and they had a clause if you get slected to the USA team
SDBB you should look at this link at the bottom. It is too bad that there are people that lie and cheat in order to fool others. I knew Jeff Spielman who used to run Team One, he is a good man that was honest. Baseball Factory fooled him into taking over Team One and then they got rid of him and everybody else that worked for the old Team One. They do still brag about all the players who Spielman had with all his hard work as though they had something to do with it.

Look at this link it might make you mad after getting stiffed on the refund.

The link doesn't work but SDBB your son is listed in an article talking about all the draft picks that went to Baseball Factory.

It says this

#23 Overall Pick, San Diego Padres

Another power-hitting college lefty first baseman, He has the ability and experience.
Baseball Factory Event: 2004 Team One National

They not only didn't give you a refund for not going they are now using you to promote themself.
I fixed the link so it should work now.

SDBB, can you clarify? BF lists your son and then says "Baseball Factory Event: 2004 Team One National".

Is that the event that your son did not attend, but they consider him to have "participated" since you sent money and they refused the refund you should have been eligible for? OUCH! Eek

It appears fraudulent to me, using a player's name who never actually stepped foot on the showcase field ... but I guess they think they can get around it with the disclaiming statement: "...from Scouting to Player Development to Showcasing".

But then they straight up say that the players "... WORE OUR JERSEY FIRST." And apparently that is not true in more than one case ... not just SDBB's son but anyone on the list who does not have a Baseball Factory/Team One event listed under their name. I guess since SDBB's son had paid his showcase fee, he was as good as there, right?

What won't people do to make themselves look better?
