My son has attended several Perfect Game tournaments and showcases.  We are looking to get one more in before senior season to record new pitching velocities and potentially improve evaluation.  He was invited to attend Under Armour Baseball Factory event but very costly.  Also invited to attaned a Scout baseball event.  I understand Perfect Game is considered the best.  UABF hand times 60's and not sure if evaluations respected.  Cannot find much out about Scout.  The UABF and Scout events fit our schedule better than upcoming Perfect Game events but not sure UABF and Scout will be as respected as Perfect Game as a third party documenting performance. Which event would be recomended, UABF or Scout?

Thanks,  Plan is to send results to interested / targeted schools.  Has offers from D3 and D2's and two D1's interested.  D2 and 3's happy as is.  D1 wants to see that pitching velocities have increased and would be happy with 3rd party documented results.  My basic question is UABF worth the price tag or does any reputable source work?  In this case I was wondering about the Scout organization which I cannot seem to find out much about on the web or in these blogs.

If he already has offers from D1s, D2s and D3s, why does he need more documentation?  Will the D1s up their offers if he does better?  Is he not interested in the offers he has received?

I'm not sure about the organizations you mentioned other than PG.  The advantage to PG is that they are seemingly the only organization that posts on line results of their evaluations.  Very easy to provide a link to and for recruiters to access.  Other than that, find showcases in which the coaches of the schools your son is interested in will be in attendance.

Agree with RJM.  Don't be throwing spaghetti, or money for that matter, at showcases that will drum up interest at best.  IMHO, most college recruiters and coaches will want to see a player with their own eyes.  Velos especially.  Like RJM says, best showcase is the one with target school coaches attending.  Could be PG, could be another outfit, could most easily be a camp at the target school? That allows coaches at target school to see with their own eyes and velos on their own gun.  Which is what they need to do if they are going to get serious about a player.

If player is going into senior season he needs exposure that is highly focused and precise.  My feeling is PG evals and velo readings are good at garnering "interest" in a player, or confirming opinions a coach has already after seeing a player himself.  Not sure if a 2015 has time to be making coaches curious about them.  2015s need to be in front of coaches now.

So I believe the best showcase for said player is the one where target coaches are PRESENT.

Yep!

At this point, if I were interested in the D1s that have shown me a little bit of life...I would be seeking an opportunity to go to their winter pitching camp to get a little one on one with the staff.  I'm fairly certain, they will have a radar gun present!

This way, I can see the campus, get to know the staff and vice/versa, see the facilities...and give myself an opportunity to perform in a more intimate and focused setting.  Just might learn something too!

LP2,

My appologies for not welcoming on my first post. Welcome! You have come to the right place to get answers regarding the process.

I would only encourage your son to go to the 2 DI camps if his arm is in great shape and he is sure that there have been velo ticks northward. Most kids have shut down until spring ball starts, so you don't want to go and show no increase or decrease. You said that these 2 DI schools were interested if they saw increases. So I'm assuming that they know his current recorded velo.

My suggestion would be to continue to work hard improving numbers. Take that money and spend it on instruction/development to increase velo. Stay in touch with all coaches that have shown interest and not worry about the DI winter camps. I have not heard of many DI's offering schollys during winter camp. At my sons school, the winter camp is to raise money for the asst. coaches.

It is always said on this site to go where they want/love you and you are going to play.

It's late, but not to late to find the right fit.
