I believe the restrictions you are thinking of are coming from the state high school sanctioning bodies.

Several high school players were not allowed to play in this year's AFLAC event. This was due to the high school year having already started.

When in doubt, GET IT IN WRITING FROM THE SANCTIONING BODY BEFORE YOU PLAY!!!!

Anyone that does anything during their high school season without getting express written permission (not from mom or dad or your buddies), is NUTS!

Each state has it own rules regarding playing outside of school during the specific season--
I have seen instances where even the AD and coach did not fully know the rules and the team paid the price.

perhaps you are referring to the ncaa 'dead period'? Isn't that a time when coaches are not allowed contact, therefore showcases will not be scheduled during that period. I think TeamOne changed their Team Florida tryouts this year due to that issue.

Well, I know individual states are creating new restrictions.

A hockey player in massachusetts went to a hockey tournament in Minnesota a few weeks ago when baseball season had started and because the event was not a personal invitation event, but an event that anyone could go to as long as they paid, the MIAA ruled him ineligible for the baseball season. The player asked to go, was denied, and went anyway, so he knew what he was facing.

But, I thought there were some new NCAA rules established as well.

Why would any organization that had the players best interest in mind, consider restricting participation in any event.

I can see restrictions during the season for the sport...but outside of that...your dealing with a sensative issue with players seeking to get better and to get more exposre.

There is no benefit to restricting any kind of particiaptation.
