Personally, the never ending steroids/Bonds banter is taking its toll on my interest in the HSBBW. I expect the banter to continue, to likely increase and to be never ending as McGuire HOF status approaches.
Thought I would suggest posting some feel good stories about players we could admire and who are living the dream. I would like to offer the stories of two 2004 draft picks, Casey Janssen of the Blue Jays and Kevin Frandsen of the Giants to start.
If you are not aware of Kevin's story, please be warned you should get a Kleenex box. I am attaching links to recent articles but one is a subscriber only on BA. The BA article is very moving as is the story of Dave Righetti giving up his #19 and the reasons why.

Casey Janssen is a story very close to home. Last April and May he was rooming with my son in Low A Lansing, MI. Moved quickly through the Jays system and got a call up with the injury to AJ Burnett. Just collected his first major league win by throwing 7 innings of one hit ball.
To me, these are the stories of what the HSBBW is all about and I thought I would try and change the tide by posting them. Hope others will bring more.

'You don't have to be a great player to play in the major leagues, you've got to be a good one every day.'

Me too. I am disappointed with myself for even posting in that thread today.

That said, those are both great feel good stories. TxMom shared the one about #19 a few weeks back but both have the shaving cream similarities.
Oh my, I just saw this. infielddad that was really super nice Smile

I sent this advice earlier but it bears repeating here. To all the 2006 soon-to-be college freshman out there, do not hang your head if things don't go your way at first. Here is my 3 step plan that "may" get you in the lineup next spring. I say "may" because some things are simply out of your control.

1) Wait for your luck to change
2) Keep your mouth closed
3) Get better every day
