Interesting website, thanks.  My son has always wanted to throw sidearm, only to be discouraged by coaches "too gimmicky".  He says if feels natural and less wear on his arm.  He's a freshman at a NAIA school in Texas and has been pitching a lot this fall (games).  The coach saw him throw sidearm and that's were he'll be throwing for the forseeable future.  He's been throwing a lot of ground ball pitches.  His curve and change-up devastate hitters.

Hopefully he can continue this effectiveness next spring.

One thing that really helped me with the slider is too really be as 'whippy' as I can with my arm. Just mentally was good image for me to really make sure that I'm getting that arm through and finishing the pitch. Change up wise lots of different grips but the main thing is to find a way to eliminate your middle finger. If you are gripping the change-up and middle finger still involved in grip lots chances are you can still throw it somewhat hard.

Hello GEOFF,

Good to hear from you online again. I'm the dad who talked to you about my 13 y/o SUB pitcher in S Florida using his golf swing for pitcher practice.  Sean has had great success after getting weekly lessons from former Phillies Pitcher "Evan Thomas".  Evan is great with young pitchers and immediately recognizd Seans's submarine talent and began to work on him having 3 different release points that he he can now interchange on same batter.  Sean is getting some good recognition and was picked up on a 16u Showcase team last night to close for them and get ready for Ripkin next year.  Having the SUB 52-55 mph. mid-sub 55-62 and Standard overhand 68 MPH has allowed him to hold his own against high school level players 3-4 years his senior.  Somebody needs to put a good instructional document together on SUB pitching. Oh yea, he hasn't thrown his golf club into the neighbors houses recently.  Thanks, ERIC
