NP13 has only recieved instruction from one catching coach. He teaches that you hop from the sign position to your receiveing position, throwing hand in a fist close to his ribs.

This has worked well for him, but none of coaches he has played teach this way and from what I have seen, few college catchers do this.

As he heads into his most importants summer and it appears that there is very little chance he will be going to that specific college, should he consider changing the way he recieves? Do college coaches care what style you use or just look at the results.

Thanks in advance for your advice and input!

I wouldn't worry about this. The questions you need to ask and answer are: can he receive the ball, can he block the ball, can he throw the ball, can he run and most importantly can he hit. If he can do most of those really well then he's going to be fine.

If a college has a certain way they want him to make this transition from sign to receiving they will teach him once they get him on the field. In the grand scheme of things this is not a big deal. Don't get caught up in trying to be a perfect player - just be a player who can play.
