Reading through some old threads I've seen that this has happened before.

1. How often does this happen?
2. What would be the reason for doing so (Even with bad grades you could go JC)?
3. Have any notables done this and made it to the show?
4. If you were worth it in the organization's eyes to sign you, then why weren't you taken with one of the 1,500 picks?

Not considering this or anything, just really curious.

I played professionally 20 years ago and one of my team mates signed as an undrafted free agent out of high school after going to a tryout camp and impressing the scouts there. He played short season that summer then got released in spring training the next year. Was very talented but had some off field issues. There were not the background checks on potential signees like there are now. If so, he probably would have never gotten the opportunity.
