I tracked down Andy Ford in Jupiter to ask this question, so let's say I have this on very good authority.

It's in Cincinnati, Ohio this June.

Andy said they wanted to do as much as they could at Great American Ballpark, but they did not yet know if the Reds would be in town that weekend or not. They will also use U. of Cinn.'s field.
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to pose these questions, but I thought I would reply to this post since it is regarding PG. I'm new to this and am wondering how PG works. I've looked at their Web site and can't figure out if you can only participate as a team, or can you sign up as an individual, do you have to be invited or can you register yourself, and how do you go about all of this?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm still learning.

Thanks!

WELCOME!
Simply put the answer to all of your questions is YES.
Depending on the event, you can register as a team or individual. Some you can request an invite, some you have to be invited.
It just depends on what you are looking for.

I am confident if you did some searching on this site, you will find the + comments outweigh any - comments by a WIDE margin for PG.

If you have other questions, fire away!
Mdbaseball10.

Perfect Game puts on tournament as well as showcases. The showcases are for individual players. Some of the showcases (i.e. state showcases) are open to everyone while some of the national showcases are more by invitation. I do however believe you can contact PG to request an invite to the more elite showcases so PG will at least know you are interested.

As for PG & WWBA tournaments, most of the field is made up of summer and fall teams however Perfect Game usually put together teams of individuals that would like to showcase their talent. These teams go under the PG banner.

I am sure if you have further questions you can contact the PG offices, I have found their staff to be very helpful.

Hope this helps, good luck!
Thanks so much for the quick reply. Yes, I have noticed that there are a lot of great comments about the PG events. That is exactly why I started looking through their Web site to see if I could figure things out.

I may be looking too early as my son is only 14 this year (a freshman in high school). But I thought it might be a good idea for him to get the experience.
mdbaseball10- PG is basically "the" organization for recruiting. Your son, in my opinion, might be a little too young for a showcase environment but certainly not the team environment, which includes the BCS and WWBA tournaments, like jerseydad said. You can PM me or most people on the site for info if you'd like, but I'd say your best bet is to contact PGStaff directly, he knows the PG organization fairly well
mdbaseball, we started WWBA events with their summer 15u tourney in East Cobb when my son was 15, i.e., summer after freshman year. Many 15's also play in the 16u tourney.

Sophomore year is a good time to shoot for the PG National Underclass event in Ft. Myers over the Christmas break from school.

So, you're not too early. But you don't have to sign up for everything. There are a bunch of showcase organizations out there. Some are money well spent, other money is just wasted. It's hard sometimes to tell which is which, but one thing you'll discover is that the PG people will hear you out on your son's strengths and they will offer suggestions that have your son's best interests (as opposed to a desire to make a buck) at heart. So my suggestion is that you call them up and ask for advice!
MD:
I'm just a year further down the path than you, so perhaps my experience can be of help. I have a sophomore son, and had the same questions: when/if to do a showcase.

He plays football in the fall, and so doesn't start getting into baseball shape until December. I decided to have him do a showcase in his freshman year just for the experience.

The National underclass was in December, and he was not going to be in any reasonable baseball shape at that time, so he went to the California Underclass in January.

By then he had been working out for a month on throwing, catching bullpen and taking cuts, but none of it was in a live game situation. He did pretty well at the showcase even though he was not very game ready.

The showcase was a good experience for him, but I'm still 50/50 on whether it makes sense to go in freshman year or wait til sophomore. I will probably have him do another the summer between soph and jr years.

Be happy to discuss it further by PM if you wish. Welcome to the board. I can guarantee you will find this place helpful.
Dow, take a look at the profiles of the past National showcases. These are top tier players so unless you have a congressional recommendation (just kidding) or have done other PG showcases and scored very, very high it would be tough to get into that showcase. Another very good PG showcase you might consider is the Sunshine West in June.
