This brings up a point of contention. I think we can all agree that these good players just didn't "happen" to go to Florida Christian. They went there for a reason and that was probably baseball. Whether it was because of the coaching or the chance to play with other good players or for the chance to win a state championship they chose to go there. And I don't blame them, but the FHSAA needs to come to its senses and put public and private schools into two different classifications. Yes, there are exceptions to the rules I know, however, why have classifications in the first place?
Answer-parity. It no longer exists in Florida. It used to be a good idea before the increase in the number of private schools in the past 20 years. But now some coaches/schools have built powerhouses and still cling to the line "we're only 2A" and just whipped up on a 6A school".
Any ideas on how to make it fair and balanced? What is the situation in other states?
By the way, this is not to diminish what these young guys have accomplished-they should be very proud.
