DBAT - I know you like promoting your own. Relatively speaking, 18 jacks are awesome. But let’s remember what high school classification he is playing in. Again, 18 is awesome and you cannot take that away from him. If he was playing in 5A in some of the power districts, do you think he would put up those kinds of numbers? I think not! The opposing coaches, alone, would not allow it to happen.

Well said DBAT. I was not trying to down play what he has done. What it does say is he is very thorough at making pitchers pay for their mistakes. My friend that is called consistency. Kudos to SS.

I know what my son would or not throw to him. And mistakes are not one of them.

BTW…. SS and my son played a couple seasons together in past lives.
Well I guess this will follow the kid the rest of his life. They still talk about Roy Oswalt being from a small school and look where he is. They are talking about Matt Selentic being from a weak distric and look what he is doing. It makes no difference what division you are from if you have the power to swing the bat and put it over the fence you have to have something going for you.
Ok. Let's make a mountain out of a mole hill. Some folks have missed the point or do not care to read the whole posting.

I would take SS on any team of mine. Great kid and awesome player. The original note was addressing the 18 home runs. We will never know what he could do in a power district. But what he would have done would have been consistent with other great players in power districts.

The good news is he is a Razorback to be and first D1 signee from Gunter. party

Oh... if you think playing in a power district at 5A is the same as 2A, you are on something better than I am taking!!!!!!

I don't care where you go to school, hitting 18 homeruns in BP is an accomplishment for some.

What Stuart has done deserves merrit. Better yet, this comes from a pitcher that sprints from the dugout to the mound. Maybe some big town players could take a few notes on some small town players.

Congrats to Stu and his family. I'm sure you are wearing those hog hats already. Razz Sooooooooooweeeeeeeeeeee
I got the chance to know Stuart and his parents a few years ago when he played with us during the summer and fall. He is a dedicated player and a very hard worker. He has earned everything he has gotten. I am looking forward to watching him as a Razorback next year. And, yes, he does have a great set of parents - and very supportive aunt and uncle. Smile
