If a teen is a slow runner and not very athletic can he build his pitching speed. How much does the lack of fast twitch muscle fibers have to do with limiting pitching speed. How much of this can be overcome with proper training and mechanics. My son is one of the slower runners on the team. Currently 16 year old sophomore, 5 foot 11 inches and 160Lbs. Throws 74 to 75 and has been very effective as a JV pitcher. In your experience can a kid like this get to 80mph, how about 85. I believe that his mechanics could use a fair amount of improvement. Any thoughts. Thank you.
