Hi guys, I play SS for my HS team and use an 11 1/4 A2000. Anyways, I wear my glove in a way so that the heel of my hand is showing, my coach told me  I should do that and the pros do it too.

I have small hands so I've tightened all parts of my glove, but sometimes when I catch the ball my glove will almost yank off, or will slip off....

Should I just not wear my glove like how my coach told me and put my hand all the way in the glove? Any suggestions?

Not to stifle input from the board, but my suggestion to you would be to have this conversation with your head coach.  You're likely to get some experienced and valid answers here, but the way you shaped your question... you are basically asking strangers to validate or disagree with your coach's direction to you.  Having dialog here is great, but have you had the same additional dialog with your coach... Have you explained your specific thinking to him and asked for his response as you have done in this post?

I agree with Soylent Green in that your coach told you to do this and you are.  If you're having problems with it then you need to address him.  He's there to help you and he wants you to succeed.

That being said my second thought is how strong are your fingers / forearms?  The palm showing is the right way to to put your glove on.  I teach my catchers the same thing and the goal is to catch the ball with your finger tips.  We even work a drill where they have to toss back and forth only using thumb, index and middle finger tips to catch the ball.  Probably wouldn't hurt to work those in somewhere with your practice.
