I came across this video this morning.
A college coach once told me that his most important job is raising boys to be responsible men, good husband's and good citizens. Everything else was icing on the cake.
That to us was #1 during recruiting. Our families decision was based on how tough the head coach would be. But with compassion. Not how easy he would be.
I do think that it is every parent's responsibility to help their athletes (females included) find the right person to help them become responsible adults. To be able to accept the things they can and cannot change and be a good teammate ( not everyone is). It's not always about the wins and the losses.
More than likely your athlete will dislike their coach at times. For different reasons. But things change.
I didn't know Coach Berry, I know some that do and I hear that he is one of those who is irreplaceable.
