maybe both SMU and UNT should drop football in favor of baseball

You're not allowed to be right if it's at the expense of football in the state of Texas. You should know that CowboysFan. Seriously, think of what a good baseball program SMU could put together with the baseball talent in North Texas and the private funding they have. It's a shame....
SMU will never have baseball. I spoke to one of their Assistant AD's about it one time and he looked at me as if I were speaking a foreign language.

UNT on the other hand does have it in their long range plans. Of course, they have been saying that for about 6 years now.

Somehow, someway, football does generate revenue at those schools so they will never drop football either. So, you can play baseball at those schools, but you have to join the "club."
My son attends UNT as a freshman and played on the club team this fall. The team was coached by one of the players (that previously attended and played for ACU, I believe). I felt everything was pretty-well organized. The team has a budget for travel expenses. We played club teams from Sam Houston, Nebraska, A&M, and also played the UD regular team. These were basically 3-game series on weekends. Mostly, there was a variety of talent on all the teams (of course, the UD team was a step above).
