dreading the shovel

4 or so inches on the ground @ 7:15pm Friday, expect 20 to 30 by Saturday night. Our fourteen year old will be out all day Saturday and Sunday shoveling driveways for $.

We are about 20 miles north of DC in Maryland.

It's one of the biggest snows I've ever seen. The kids are having a blast.

Hi TR -- We have the first foot on the ground up on our hill. We hit the driveway the first time at about 8", and had another 2" down by the time we finished the first pass. Thank God for snowblowers ... it's only about 350' to the street. They say we are in the 24" to 30" zone.

The map makes it look like you are going to miss it again. Hope you do. See you around the ball field ... when it melts

Yea...we're definitely over a foot now...probably over 15" and snowing hard...we're also in the 24"+ zone from looking at the maps...My boys (14 and 17) will be out trying to make some $$ as well tomorrow...not supposed to end until tomorrow night though...

They're also calling for another, smaller storm on Tuesday / Wednesday...

At this rate, the fields may still be snow covered on the 22nd when they start tryouts! I'm ready for 80+ and a sunny sky over the field!

Took out the trusty yard stick at about 8:30 this am and we have 22 inches and still snowing strong. Son has been out shovling, one last night to "make a dent" and once this am to clear a path for the dog.

Remember TR, the folks up north are much better prepared for this than we are...

Got 28"+ where I'm at. Just south of Philly. 1st year we got more than my son who's going to school in Nebraska. From what I hear we're looking for more on Tues./Wed.

We got 26 inches, lost power for two nights and a day, snowed in for two days. Second weekend in a row that son's all-day Saturday workout was canceled. I think our first scrimmage is in a month. Who knows if the snow will even be melted by then.

We ended up at 30" or 31"...Still have yet to see a plow on any of the roads we need to get us to a "main" road. And, already a Winter Storm Watch for Tuesday...

About the most telling example of the severity of the storm, the Federal Government is closed tomorrow...I've lived in the area my whole life and NEVER remember the government being closed 2 days after a storm...

Another 12 inches since yesterday. Good grief.

Storm 1 + storm 2 = 42 inches on my deck! Almost up to our kitchen window!!

We got about 30 inches over the past two storms...High school tryouts in a few weeks...looks like they might have to be done inside...

Thinking about a fund raising idea Start a 50/50 pool $5 a guess the date when the field will be dry enough to practice on.

We were hit with more than 2' in the 1st inning (right before Christmas). We took on a few inches each in the 2nd and the 3rd; and were hit with about 3 1/2 feet in the 4th inning last week. We fought back and punched out the the street just before kick-off of the Super Bowl. I have no idea what we took on the other day, because the winds created so much drifting we had walls of snow in the drive as high as 4 feet (had to be at least 1' of new snow). Unfortunately, we are losing the strength to respond.

I regret to say that I think we are going to lose this winter to a mercy rule.
