snowflakes

I thought they were there all year round for we northerners

I hate the snow. And no we Canadians don't live in igloos. Our winters are freezing, but our summers are probably hotter than a lot of states maybe even down south. Currently speaking it's 85F. And hockey season is almost done and so should the snowflakes. I also work in a meat factory and it's so cold I get home with a runny nose.
That's why i wish I grew up in California. It's nice all year round, I could go see Bonds play cuase he'll never be at the SkyDome. And you can play ball there all year round too.

Heavens!! Most state HS tournaments are in the books!! We've hit 90 degrees here in TN a couple of times!! Melt the snowflakes!!!

If I have to see them, I'd rather see them in the summer where they at least look refreshing.

To get rid of them, the webmaster would need to take about 30 seconds to delete them or comment them out.

Those don't show as snowflakes on my computer, they show as baseballs. Are you sure you don't need glasses?

I've been using this site for a good while now and understand the vast amount of useful info present ...but a "novice" visitor might get the impression that this site is not "up-to-date" when the first thing they see is snowflakes in the middle of June, am I not correct?

I am glad someone brought this topic up. I contributed (very gladly) what I considered to be a fair amount of money to upkeeping this site ($100.00)when the call came out to help support a site we all enjoy. I then took an extended sabbatical from this site, and when I returned(April) I was perplexed by the continuing presence of the snowflakes. Frankly, it really irked me. However, I did not inquire, because I figured regular visitors would have already voiced their complaints and addressed the issue. Gee, it's June and the snowflakes are finally now gone? The Webmaster lives in TN, for pete's sake.

Oops! The creepy 4th of July snow flakes are still there!! Why?

At the end of the day, does it really and truly matter and, thurber, we don't need to know how much you contributed !!!!

Actually, I find the snowflakes quite refreshing, especially when it's 95 outside with high humidity as it was here today!

I say keep the snowflakes as a "cool" refresher for us suffering in the spring (actually feels like summer already) heat.

It's always summer in Mississippi.

And that's why Montreal has a baseball team! No they aren't moving out cuase it's too cold.
We also have skyscrapers, suburbs with side-splits, bungalows, apartments, condos, s****r fields, baskebtall courts, tennis courts, and baseball fields, as a matter of fact I played on one last night and it happened to be boiling, I got bit by mosquitos, and slept with my window open.

Does anyone else here feel that we are perhaps being ignored? . Wouldn't it be nice if those snowflakes could turn into suns, or baseballs, or SOMETHING else for a change? Or is Christmas coming early this year???

Hmmmm---a little snow might feel refreshing right now (I said a LITTLE!!!). It's hot as Hades here.... But, yes, I do believe we are being ignored.

At the end of the day...not many things really, truly matter. Taking that into account, many on this site are constantly reminded of first impressions...and if you are to be taken seriously in the least on a baseball site(thinking from a first time visitor point of view), having snowflakes on the opening page is just downright GOOFY!

What is the big deal about snowflakes. All you have to do is click into the forums and they are gone. Everyone sounds like whinny little children. Grow up and leave Bob alone. He is busy with important stuff like baseball!!!

In the scope of the world and even baseball, the snowflakes certainly is not a big deal.

In the web site designing world, not refreshing seasonal content is almost always a tipoff that the web site is not being maintained.

Regular visitors certainly know that that's not the case here. However new visitors that just happen upon the site may indeed think the site is stale.

Perhaps some people just want to help Bob and are not trying to be, "whinny (?)".

Silver...is that, like "whinny" like a horse? Shoot, is this an equestrian site? I could have sworn it was all about baseball!

If it is a baseball forum, why have you all spent all this time complaining about snowflakes. What does that have to do with baseball. I think Chill's message says it all.

Well, Chill has a horse in her post, so....maybe that IS the answer!

Silverhaired lady, I am sorry that we are upsetting you....none of us really care whether the snowflakes stay or go, it is just good-natured banter I think (although I am only speaking for myself)....Bob is free to ignore us, which he has clearly chosen to do and hopefully he knows that we're just kidding around. You just have to search for that "ignore button" that another poster mentioned recently!

Now back to equestrian baseball....

P.S. Wow, I just read that you are a GREATgrandmother, that is awesome! (California-speak here, sorry)...Do all the generations play baseball? Welcome....

Cal 2004 Yes, my husband played fast pitch softball, we had three sons who played baseball, one grandson that plays baseball and the oldest great grandson has just started T-ball. Thanks for asking and you really were not upsetting me. I was just kidding around with you.

That must be so much fun for you. TBall is the most fun in a way...they are so cute and innocent. My favorite sights: the outfielders sitting down in the grass to pick the little daisies; the batter running the bases in the wrong direction; the batter running all around the bases TWICE, not once.....but you know, my son still remembers his first time playing TBall as one of the greatest moments of his life...and their love for the game continues from that moment on!

Why do I have a feeling the snowflakes are staying?

About little guys playing T-Ball: My S was playing in one of his first "real" games. He hits the ball. Immediately, he realizes that prospects do not look good at first; whereupon, he heads straight to third!

The snowflakes are staying, because they have become an "issue." To each his own.

That's funny, I saw that move once too and almost mentioned it! Hilarious memories...

And now that winter's around the corner, might as well just keep them on. Or maybe Bob will tick us off by replacing them with suns wearing sunshine glasses

Listen...I don't have to constantly see the flakes (since I am bookmarked directly to the message boards)...and this is not a big deal to me personally; I respond now since it was the first item on the discussion board.
Think about it folks...the flakes could be considered close to the point of an embarrassment to an otherwise excellent BASEBALL site.
Is this really too far-fetched of an opinion?

Me thinks Bob wants to remind all of our fortunate southern ball players just how dedicated to the sport we in the cold winter states are.
