letter start out telling about there ball club, and then the College.
then it says:
quote:
I hope your season is going well. Even though its been difficult to recruit off campus during our current season we still are making plans to see you play. We are also excited about seeing you play this summer. Most of our recruiting will be done during the summer months.

I look forward to our continued contact and I hope you will continue to follow our season on teamname.com
Coach name here.

So should I let my son jump up and down or should I tell him 1000's of letter are sent out?
BTW this not 1st school or 1st letter from this school. We return the info they ask for, but I'm not sure how much weight something like this has.
Can this all be becase I use this web site info to contact schools ? Or becase he has been to College "invite only" camps?
Thanks for your imput

Posted March 30, 2011 07:10 PM what is an "invite only" college camp?
not sure PG the camp had 40 players only and the letter we got said only 100 got invite 1st 40 to sign up fill the camp, But i'm sure it just like PG invite camps your going fill the spots one way or the other its helps make money for the event.. Thats why i posted here, to see if maybe the wording in this quote makes it more then just a chain letter.
We get alot letter now days baseball is a money maken sport. This one happen to be from (name removed) and before I show my son I trying to find out if I should talk it down or let him jump for joy thinking they going come see a game this summer.

Why don't you just show it to son, then put it away.
I think we've covered what recruiting letters may or may not mean, most mean nothing until later, when you get a call, they show up at a game, they ask you to come visit their program, etc.

Why don't you just not say a word, let him deal with it, let that letter be an incentive (if interested) to work harder in the classroom and on the field, then put it away in the folder you have most likely saved for such correpondance (everyone has one Big Grin).

Try to spend your time enjoying it, not analyzing.

GA SC, also remember your son can contact this coach via phone. Depending on his grad year, coaches can not call him, but he surely can pick up the phone and make a call.
He can just say "Thanks for the letter of interest, enjoyed the camp, should I send my schedules directly to you?."
And see where it goes from there. Good Luck and Enjoy!
My son got an e-mail identical to this and was bouncing off the walls with excitement. I am also, once again, curious about whether something like this is real interest but I do look at it and think why would they say they want to come and see him play if they weren't somewhat interested (it's pretty far for them come to us) unless they're just mean. Maybe I'm naive.
