Haven’t been around here in a while so I’m not too sure how many of you will remember Bob Miller (aka jerseydad). With great sadness, I learned from his son last night that he passed suddenly yesterday morning. No other details.

Bob was an incredibly kind man and a very special friend to TPM, myself and I am sure others too.  He always watched the boxscores for our two baseball sons through college and pro ball and was as big a cheerleader as my own family when our older son made his MLB debut.  He would even watch their games online when he could and taught me about MiLB TV and how to do that myself (I know, sounds silly but it was new back then).

His son Quentin, signed by UNC’, was drafted out of HS by the Pirates with a mid-90s fastball and a strong stature. He was a ‘probably can’t miss’ prospect who made it to double-A but due to a string of injuries couldn’t go beyond that and retired from baseball when they mounted on him.

His younger son, Brody, is a terrific writer who graduated from Indiana who now covers LSU for The Athletic (read his stuff!) and his daughter Madison is a beautiful young lady who graduated from Univ of South Carolina.

Bob lost his wife Cyndy about 9 or 10 years ago to cancer. I’ll never forget the heartbroken morning I woke up to read that news from Bob. He never stopped loving and missing her to his very last day.

i pray they are now together.

RIP Bob. I simply can’t believe you are gone.

This was a shocker. I can't believe it. Tom, Bob and I shared a messenger chat, called, "The Crew" for many years, last visit Feb 6. We hadn't posted to each other for a while, but I had some news to share. I am so happy that my inner self told me to reach out that day.

I met Bob a lifetime ago in Jupiter and Tom for lunch while he was in town. I also met Bob's  son who he always called Q, when he came to Jupiter to play while he was in High A.  And Tom met my son in AA San Antonio.

Bob was really one of the most upbeat and positive persons that I have known, despite all of the sadness of losing his wife, who he adored.

RIP Bob Miller.

I was saddened to hear this news this morning. I had the pleasure of meeting Bob and his son Quentin at a Perfect Game event in Florida and, of course, interacted with him here on HSBBW.

What  a very gracious and humble man he was.  I’m very glad that our paths crossed however briefly. May he Rest In Peace.

I was also very shocked and saddened to read this news on Facebook this morning. I had not had the pleasure of meeting Bob / jerseydad in person, but for more than a decade felt that I knew him and his family thru his online presence.

The two things about Bob that were probably the most obvious to all: his kindness, and his deep devotion to his family. I'm sure he will be very dearly missed.

Julie
