Our Head Coach's wife has played a back seat role in her husband's love of our boys and coaching our high school baseball team. I myself, not having a dad very active with my son in baseball. He was always there for every call I made, every concern I had, just a great human being. She holds a special place for sharing her husband with my son and the rest of the team. I want to do something very special, a poem or something to tell her how much we (I) appreciated her for sharing him as a coach. Something heartfelt too. Maybe some mom's can give me some suggestions on what to do. My son is graduating this year and she has been so supportive and always the coach's wife is forgotten. Thanks.

Oh great question! I feel your sentiments so strongly as well. I didn't do anything to honor my son's baseball coach when son graduated because he's also the volleyball coach and daughter was still playing. I didn't want anyone to think I was "******* up". However, I do plan on recognizing her great efforts at supporting her husband allowing him to do so much for my kids and others.

I'll tell you one neat idea that was inspired by a suggested Oldbatnever shared a while back. A beautiful box of some kind. Have parents and players write a special "memory" and put it in the box. Things that demonstrate how the coach and his family (directly and in directly) have touched their lives.

I agree with mmac's suggestion of flowers! For me, cut flowers can never go wrong!!! Smile And, on a coach's salary, that's something they probably aren't able to do very often for their wives.

As with any gift, I think it's the sentiment behind it that touches our hearts. I'm sure she will appreciate you gesture no matter what you choose. Yeah for you though for being thoughtful!!!
Well Ladies, thanks for your suggestions. I put a memory box together with quotes from the senior boys of their memorable moments/lessons learned from the coach within a big pretty box filled with memorable things of the season. A black and white picture of the graduating seniors on one side of the 2 folded frame and another picture of her husband., pretty lotions, chocolates, rose pedals and a special poem about "coachs wife". Thanks for your suggestions. The boys were really receptive and helped out with their thoughts..
