I actually think it is a good decision for a talented athlete who is the son of a legend. even if you make it to mlb people will always look at you as a failure if you are Griffey's son and you are "only" a 4th outfielder. you will get compared to your dad all the time.

if you play another sport the pressure and media attention is much less.

I read that the son of Agassi plays baseball and is a decent player. tennis fans got upset about this too because he must have the greatest tennis genes in history (Andre and Steffi won like 30 grand slams combined) but imagine the media attention he would have gotten while nobody cares about him in baseball, he can just go out, play and have fun.

yeah maybe he would have become the greatest tennis player ever but more likely he would have been a decent but not great player topping out around 150 in the world ranking (equivalent to being a 4th OFer in mlb) which is actually excellent and better than 99.9% of all tennis players but considered a failure by the media .

Tori Holts son plays football at Notre Dame.

He has speed and athleticism that would go a long way in baseball too.He is a WR and those skills translate easily in the out field for baseball.  My guess is that many of the big time athletes in sports, including former Big Leaguers sons, can play almost any sport at a high level. The choice is theres and maybe they dont chose a sport based ontheir parents sort. Maybe they have the same thought process as the other kids in their age group that are choosing the more "popular" sports today.

Just saying....a 1-0 championship game that lasts about four hours was great to watch if you are a fan of the sport or teams playing but for the majority of people, including the casual fan, it was no scoring and no action for almost four hours.

Good points!

One thing though... Agassi's son is much better than a decent player. Depending on your definition of decent.  We expect him to be a top guy in his class.

We played against his team last summer, he had good velo, not such good control, but definitely good velo. Interestingly, he was on a team that wears their names on their jersey, and he used a fake name on his, probably to keep him somewhat anonymous. He will be good, but needs to work on his control.

There were many pitchers at that tournament with better control and similar velo, it would be interesting to chart their progress vs. Agassi's to see how much gushing over him may be based on name recognition.
