Can anyone suggest any colleges in the Northeast that might still need players & would accept admission this late?

My son was all set to attend orientation for Ithaca College in 3 weeks & had met with the coach there- everything was in place for him. He received over $30k in scholarship money but we were counting on his absent father to pay the rest. We'd been trying to get him to show up in court for this since 2009 & finally had the court hearing yesterday.

He found a legal loop hole out of paying & now my son has to find a new college, where he has a chance of playing- fast. There is nothing my husband & I can do to help him- we own a small business that is failing, our house is in foreclosure & I have 4 other children. There is simply no way we can afford this college.

I don't even know where to start. My son is heartbroken. Please help.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear of this situation you and your son are in.

I don't know where you are in the NE, but what about community college options? There are some very good programs out there - Anne Arundel and Frederick Community just popped to mind, but so many others.

Maybe PM TRHit, he's extremely knowledgeable about everything baseball (and college) in the northeast -- that might be a great first step.

It's a tough call, but you definitely still have time to sort things out. Good luck!

If your business is failing and your house is in foreclosure, it sounds like you have minimal income. Why not apply for pell grants and subsidized student loans? In most states, a lot of free money is available in these cases. You need to ask and research.

YES, and go to the dir of Fin Aid at Ithaca with your appeal
