Ok so I know that there were other players in the deal but still... Now, there will be games where I will have to root for the Cubbies! I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THAT. MLB story mention David and Sammy (David's name and Sammy's career! LOL!!)

Coach,

Kinda neat. One of my son's winter instructors a few years ago was traded by the Indians to the Orioles in a deal for some guy named Harold Baines. He got as high as triple A but never got to the show. He did end up with some wonderful "inside" stories about Ripken (every bit the wonderful guy he seemed) and Albert Belle (truly the AntiChrist of Ripken).

Hope your boy gets to the Show!
Coach, Coach, Coach.

We do not root for the Cubbies....particularly as long as Dusty is there, doing what Dusty does. Perhaps that energy would be bettter spent keeping in contact with young David in an effort to keep him well clear of the kool-aid.

Hmmm...and I used to be quite fond of the Cubs.

Mightn't the no trade thing unhinge this? If Sosa wants a multiyear deal to restructure his contract, I can't see that as good news for the O's. It might put bums in seats....but Sammy's act is getting very tired.
Racab, I certainly respect your admiration of Sammy, and for the Orioles' sake, I hope you're right. But the back injury, the hip injury, and declining production the last couple of years would argue against it, IMHO. I don't care for some of his antics, but I think the atmosphere in Chicago encouraged that side of him. I will not miss him in the National League.

Coach....I understand your "Location" comment Wink, but may I suggest Rossino's?
I'm a huge Cubs fan and appreciate what Sammy did during the good years but only way he'll hit 50 is if his pharmacist can stay ahead of already outdated mlb testing.
For he and Bonds and the other workout warriors, lol, the great thing is they only test urine and not blood.
Orioles are getting a selfish, spoiled, aging, and declining player who does not realize he is now an average player at best. If he k'd endlessly against NL pitchers he's seen for years I can't imagine how many k's you'll see vs. different pitchers who will salivate at a guy with a slow bat who stands 3 feet away from plate.
Donna

It is not matter of admiration, if Sammy did hit 35 HR last year in only 129 games in Chicago last year, he by sure will hit 50 in Baltimore if he is healthy.

Selfish Sammy? Do you remember in 1998 when he gained the world's hart with his humildity. Did you expected that actitud from a shining shoes kid from Dominican Republic, that couldn't go higher than elementary school?
Why are you guys so demanding with him?
I saw the MLB story on my kid. It states that he had a fanstatic first half of the year last year and then didn't do well at the end. Heck, he was 3K's shy of averaging a K/inning pitched. He might have been tired! Also, the article questions his temperment. WELL, THAT'S A SURPRISE, WE CALLED HIM CRAZY DAVE! However, he is such a good kid! He is high strung and wants to be the best at everything he does. Baseball was rated to "cruise mid-90's and tops 96. The slider was rated, according to one of the links I posted last year, as the top slider in the minors.

I don't know if he will make it up with the Cubs. I do know that the O's had him listed as probably making the big club. Time will tell. Naturally, he will always be able to say that he was traded for some guy that used to play for the Cubs named Sammy. LOL!

Sosa still has a big charity down Dominican Republic, just a week ago finished a 5 million dollars health program with dozens of doctors and nurses from united states colaborating with the program. The fraud case that you talking about was against Sammy for one of his fundation officials.
About the corked bat, MLB couldn't found evidency against Sosa explanation, that was an accident.
An easy explanation that could be done here, it is why some posters hate Sammy so much?
