No. 3 Joliet Catholic Academy 14 No. 7 Marist 4
Dan Cladis went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBI, Shane Keane hit a two-run home run and Tom Zurliene went 3-for-4 with two RBI as host Joliet Catholic Academy (15-3, 3-2) cruised in the five-inning East Suburban Catholic Conference contest. Bill McKeon was 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Hilltoppers.
No. 4 Sandburg 7, Stagg 2
Dave Reynolds (4-1) pitched 5 2/3 innings for the win and also went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBI for visiting Sandburg (11-7, 5-1) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Matt Hoffman (3-for-3, solo HR, 2 runs) and Mark Andersen (2-for-3, 3 runs) also starred for the Eagles.
No. 5 Providence Catholic 7 Loyola Academy 6
Providence Catholic (13-5, 5-0) earned the Catholic League Blue road win as Sean Boyle (6-1) struck out eight and Nick Gorski went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Grant Simotes and Tim Garvin each had two hits and an RBI for the Celtics.
No. 10 St. Laurence 9, Gordon Tech 4
Visiting St. Laurence (14-5, 5-0) triumphed in the Catholic League White as Rob Froio (3-for-4) and Glenn Fischer (2-for-4) each contributed two RBI. Dan Jedlowski (5-1) struck out seven in pitching a complete game for the Vikings.
St. Ignatius 13, De La Salle 1
Joe Crisanti and Niko Gomez both went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI in leading St. Ignatius (10-9, 3-2) to the five-inning Catholic League Blue victory. Alex Rozgus (2-1) allowed five hits in pitching a complete game for the visiting Wolfpack.
De La Salle fell to 8-11, 2-6.
Brother Rice 5, Fenwick 1
Brother Rice (11-7, 2-3) won the Catholic League Blue game in Mount Greenwood as Ryan Wischhover went 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs and two RBI. Marty Roche (2-2) tossed a four-hitter and struck out seven for the Crusaders.
Rich South 5, Rich East 4
Kendrick Hawkins' two-run double in the bottom of the seventh guided Rich South (10-8, 5-2) to the SICA South-Gold win in Richton Park. Berrell Burkes, Seth Arriaga and Donte Wilkins added RBI for the Stars, while Ben Tyler (5-2) struck out 10 in pitching a complete game.
Thornton 12, Thornridge 9
Thornton (3-14, 1-5) won the SICA South-Silver game in Harvey as Cornelius Carpenter went 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBI. Brad Jones also starred for the Wildcats, going 3-for-3 with four runs.
Illiana Christian 3, Evergreen Park 2
Joe Beckow hit a solo homer and Josh Reusnow added an RBI single for visiting Evergreen Park (10-11) in the nonconference contest.
Lincoln-Way East 6 Lincoln-Way Central 5
Tim Lilja contributed three RBI as Lincoln-Way East (10-7, 2-4) notched the SouthWest Suburban Red victory at Silver Cross Field in Joliet.
Michael Hauser hit a solo home run for Lincoln-Way Central (7-12, 1-5).
T.F. South 3, Thornwood 0
Scott Pokers (3-0) tossed a one-hitter and struck out eight in pacing T.F. South (11-3, 6-0) to the SICA South-Silver win in South Holland. Cody Provenzano paced the attack offensively for the Rebels, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a run and an RBI.
Nazareth Academy 18, Marian Catholic 5
Joe Frigo, Mark Scott and Nick Eggebrecht all had three hits for host Marian Catholic (8-9, 1-6) in the East Suburban Catholic Conference game.
Bloom Township 6, T.F. North 5
Herb Haskins drove in four runs and Marty Alcantar scored twice for host Bloom Township (10-3, 4-1) in SICA South-Silver action. Chad Johnson struck out nine in six innings for the victors.
Bradley 6, No. 8 Andrew 1
Buzz Foley went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for host Andrew (13-7, 4-2) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.
Morgan Park Academy 6, Luther East 2
Morgan Park Academy held on after jumping out to a 6-0 lead to improve to 11-1 overall.
Homewood-Flossmoor 13 Rich Central 3
Homewood-Flossmoor (10-11) coasted to the five-inning nonconference win in Olympia Fields as Trenton Sanders went 3-for-3 with three RBI. Richard Turner added two hits and two RBI for the Vikings. Nick Baratta (1-5) struck out six over four innings for the winners.
