My son attended 2 years ago and it is a great event. The place is swarming with scouts and college coaches (D1, D2, D3, and JUCO) and is held a week or two before the early signing date. The cost is only $50 and all of the proceeds go to the family of a pro scout who died at an early age. Highly recommended for those wanting to move on to the next level.
HaltomScout,

The schedule was a little better last year as pitchers came in and threw their bullpens at 9 AM and could leave if they weren't showing off their other positional skills. The other players didn't have to be there until 12 noon but its always better to get there a little earlier to get their shirt and tryout number. They were like most camps in that positional players first ran a 60 YD run I think two at a time by positions. Then they had outfielders throw measuring velocity, carry, and accuracy. Next infielders threw and both years from 3rd base although I think last year the 2nd basemen got to throw from 2nd. Next came catchers pop times. Finally each group hits which is a time consuming deal. They hit off coaches throwing batting practice. While it is a good showcase with lots of coaches and for a good cause there were a couple of things that peeved me a little. After advertising that the showcase is for high school Juniors and Seniors only, last year they had about 4 just released pro guys who they let bat two and (three for one guy) rounds each early in the batting portion while everyone who paid waited. As it then turned out they started rushing at the end and while guys got 8-10 swings early the later guys got 6 quick swings. The first year we were an early batter but last year we drew the black bean and were one of the last batters. This year it does state that they are limiting it to 200 people and I know for a fact there were 251 last year. Nonetheless, we are taking the youngest son because you will be seen at this event.
Last year there were three released players who at the request of the scouts were invited to hit. The scouts and college coaches are what seperates this event from all the other high priced no body in attendance showcases. Remember, the scouts are doing this during their down time for free to help the Wilson family and help a lot of young men get seen that normally would not.
For the DFW players .. this event will put you in front of scouts from the south that might not make it up to the DFW area to see you play. When my son attended last year, he was offered by 2 schools before he left the stadium, and numerous others sent info trying to recruit him after the event(all levels).
$75 is a steal considering what most events this size would charge.
Positon players it is a long day, take a cooler for sure ...
My 2012 son will be at the showcase and I was wondering what is the format for pitchers? I know they will not face live batters, but pitch a 20 pitch bullpen. Do they warm up on a mound prior to pitching in front of the scouts?

Check-in is at 9am. Do they have time to warm up after check-in or should they arrive early to warm up?
