HaltomScout,
The schedule was a little better last year as pitchers came in and threw their bullpens at 9 AM and could leave if they weren't showing off their other positional skills. The other players didn't have to be there until 12 noon but its always better to get there a little earlier to get their shirt and tryout number. They were like most camps in that positional players first ran a 60 YD run I think two at a time by positions. Then they had outfielders throw measuring velocity, carry, and accuracy. Next infielders threw and both years from 3rd base although I think last year the 2nd basemen got to throw from 2nd. Next came catchers pop times. Finally each group hits which is a time consuming deal. They hit off coaches throwing batting practice. While it is a good showcase with lots of coaches and for a good cause there were a couple of things that peeved me a little. After advertising that the showcase is for high school Juniors and Seniors only, last year they had about 4 just released pro guys who they let bat two and (three for one guy) rounds each early in the batting portion while everyone who paid waited. As it then turned out they started rushing at the end and while guys got 8-10 swings early the later guys got 6 quick swings. The first year we were an early batter but last year we drew the black bean and were one of the last batters. This year it does state that they are limiting it to 200 people and I know for a fact there were 251 last year. Nonetheless, we are taking the youngest son because you will be seen at this event.
