The Glou./GB is winner take all since the winner owns the tiebreaker of head to head (presumably the top tiebreaker) since the worst both can be is 5-1 (if GB losses to Hickory and beats Glou.) and everyone else has 2 losses or more.

It seems as though there are no tiebreakers in the WB/Woodside conference.  There will be a one game playoff if they are tied (even though Woodside owns the head to head).

So, my question is this:  Is there a head to head tiebreaker in the GB/Glou. conference?

Every time we begin to assume something, we find out that this conference does it differently than that one.  (Same to be said at the classification and regional levels)  I just learned on another thread that the 6A North allows SIXTEEN teams to the regional.  Out of 26, mind you!

Meanwhile 6A South allows eight, as far as I know.

The 16 team regional is not so surprising because either the North or Northwest Region in previous years has used a 16 team regional while the other three regions had an 8 team regional.

Also, not using head to head as the tie breaker is how the SED operated in prior years, so that is not a surprising approach either.  Western Branch has had its share of 1 game playoffs when the record was tied even though one team might have the record in a head to head comparison.

One game tiebreakers are relatively normal, but many times exist as a 2nd option behind the head to head tiebreaker.  Especially when two teams split their regular season match ups.  I guess that conference decided to go with the one-game playoff in lieu of any head to head consideration.  And that's just it...with so many new conferences, it's impossible to keep up with who's doing what!  Especially when so many are doing different things.

In regards to the 16 team regional, it is true that the North has used that before.  But this is different.  In a three classification system, the North had twice as many schools attempting to qualify and advance.  That can be argued and justified.  I don't understand at all how it makes sense to allow more than 60% of your programs to move into regional play.  Especially in a single elimination format.

I mean, by definition, doubling the classification from AAA - 6A, automatically doubles the number of programs that qualify anyhow!  (if all things are equal)

Kings Fork beats Denbigh 5-4 to secure at least the 2 seed in the Ironclad Tournament.  They are now 11-7 overall, and 7-1 in conference play.  They play NR on Thursday at NR.

Denbigh is now 9-7 overall and 3-5 in conference. They play at NR today.  If Lakeland wins out against Phoebus and Heritage, they will secure the 3 seed.
