Southern Cal versus Northern Cal

Hello All,

I have another question. Why is it for football and basketbell there are state championships where the top Northern Cal team plays the top Southern Cal team in divisions 1-4 and there is no state championship for baseball. I'm just curious. Actually, my son asked me the question and I did not have an answer. Thanks !

I've read that because baseball is a spring sport, it would be difficult to get the playoffs done before some schools were out. Also, the various sections would all need to end at the same time, and with California's wide variation in February weather, this would be hard to arrange.

I'm not sure that these issues are insolvable.
