The Chicago Sports Academy (CSA) will be hosting a SPARQ Baseball Team Challenge event on Saturday, February 3rd at Windy City Fieldhouse from Noon-3PM.

The SPARQ Baseball testing is designed to measure an athlete's overall athleticism specifically for baseball. CSA is authorized to provide "CERTIFIED" SPARQ ratings and the management team from the SPARQ Trainers Network will be coming to Chicago for this event (and the Super 60 on Sunday). After testing, we will conduct a demonstration illustrating some of the core SPARQ Baseball Training techniques. As usual, there is NO CHARGE to participate in a CSA event.

Here is how it works:

1. We are seeking "teams" for participation -- a team is made up of at least ten (10) players. This is "program" event, meaning that you can participate with any of team members from any program level (varsity, JV, freshmen, etc.) at your school.

2. There will be SPARQ giveaways to be awarded for the top teams as well as recognition of the top team and individual scores on the SPARQ website.

3. We already have 4-5 teams committed for this event and spots are filling up quickly.

4. Individual players who will like to be tested will be assigned to a "CSA Select" team for testing purposes so feel free to reserve your spot today.

For teams, players and coaches that are interested, please send an e-mail to info@chicagosportsacademy.com and visit our website at www.csabaseball.net

I think that this is OK because it is a fitness based (no baseball) event. It is also free of charge and voluntary which from my talking with Mr. Holman makes it OK for players to attend. I think the word camp and baseball teams have thrown you off on what I think should be a good event. I know Mr. Luster (MD42) will check into this for all of us and let everyone know.
I will see you Friday night. Looking forward to some good baseball talk and some delusional Bears talk.

Keep working hard,

Hi All,

Justin is right ... even though I have cleared this previously with the IHSA previously ... I made another call just to clarify and Anthony Holman (IHSA Baseball) indicated that this type of camp did not have any participation restrictions.

Per Anthony, these type of camps are fine for unlimited participation because there is no baseball instruction given at these camps. Because the camps are geared toward "athletic development" in preparation for the upcoming baseball season and not baseball training itself -- it does not come under the limited participation rule.

This should be a good opportunity for the kids to start (if they have not already) really focusing on their off-season baseball conditioning and they get a free t-shirt to boot!!

If there are any other inquiries, please call Mike, (708) 259-7945.
