I am looking for a good speed trainer in the summer. I live in Chicago and want somewhere within 45 minutes. Along with their name, any other information such as prices, training methods, and how they gauge performance would be helpful. If any of you have personal experience with a particular trainer or program, PM me and let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

In the interest of full disclosure, Don Beebe is a personal friend. My kids and a number of kids that I have coached have attended his 3 day camps, summer camps, and done personal training with his staff. I will be sending my youngest to work with his staff this winter. It's about an hour and a half drive for us, but it's worth it.

He expects you to show up with a desire to work hard to get better. If you do that, you will get better. This isn't just some ex-jock that runs fast and read a book, he's worked with all kinds of specialists, including nutritionists, doctors, chiropractors, trainers, coaches. He knows his stuff and has a sincere interest in making the athlete better...not just physically, but mentally too. He places great stock in the mental aspects of training and athletics and you will be coached, not just given a bunch of random drills.

As you can tell, I have a very high regard for House of Speed, it's a professional organization that has a great track record of producing positive results.

Tim Graf, Graf Speed Enhancement. My son started with a 6.5 40 in 8th Grade. After three winters working with Tim his current best 40 is 4.74 and he recently ran a 7.0 in the 60. He's a pitcher/ First Baseman and not a speed guy by any means. If you stick with this program in the offseason you will see great results. Plus Tim is great guy and his staff is excellent. Lots of individual attention even in the group lessons.
