I am hoping this is a rally cry-- not a sign of the future. Florida's education system, like others across the country, is financially strapped. Do you think this could really happen?

Smalltownmom,
Earlier this week, I had a call from a parent of one of my son's HS teammates. His son is playing ball for a JUCO in a neighboring state. To make a long story short, JUCO coach met with his team on Monday to tell them they would no longer be fielding a team. Apparently, the JUCO president decided that would be the best way to ease the budget crisis. Never mind the kids who trusted that when they played their hearts out for the school the school would be behind them. BTW this applies to ALL sports, not just baseball. Sad, so very sad. Now a lot of kids are scrambling for playing opportunities for next year.
