SportsDay's baseball player of the week: Michael Bolsinger

By TIM MACMAHON / The Dallas Morning News

What he did: Like everybody in McKinney North's lineup, Bolsinger hit the ball well in a Class 4A Region II semifinal sweep of Midlothian that consisted of two run-rule victories. He went 4-for-6 with a Game 1-ending homer, four runs and three RBIs. He also did not allow an earned run in a 14-1, five-inning victory in Game 2. He allowed only two hits and struck out six despite a sore back.

Michael Bolsinger The stats: Bolsinger has a .366 batting average with 11 doubles, 31 RBIs and 21 runs. He is 8-2 with a 1.11 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 57 innings. He is 3-0 with a save during the playoffs and has not allowed an earned run in 16 postseason innings.

Who is he? He's a 6-2, 200-pound senior right-hander who signed with Texas Tech and Grayson Junior College. He plays right field when he isn't pitching.

He said it: "My velocity was still OK, and my control was pretty good. It took a lot off me when we got all those runs. I didn't have to be nervous. I could just pitch."

Coach said it: "His back was a little tight, but I actually think it helped his control. It made him slow down and concentrate on technique. His slider and curveball were really working." – coach Brandon Milam

Did you know? Played on the same select team as Highland Park's Clayton Kershaw and Justin Walker. ... Enjoys working on cars and motorcycles. Drives a Jeep Wrangler and hopes to get a motorcycle for graduation.

Congrats to MB, but happy to see him go!!

The good news-He is a senior and we will not have to face him twice again next year.
The bad news-Trent Appleby, Nico Taylor, Erick Ross and others will be back to cause havoc for us and 9-4A next year.
Hopefully we will find a head coach who is able and ready to go to battle in a very tough baseball district next spring.

All you have to do is convice Scott Head not to make your Baseball coach coach Football and you might be able to rehire a certain LDHS grad that is doing great things in Lewisville.

Big Grin
KD,I don't think he is on the short or long list to be honest with you. I know my son really liked him. From what I'm hearing, there have been many resumes submitted, and some of those are still in the playoffs. I think once it's all said and done, Scott will get the right man for the job. Heck, Scott my suprise us all and take the job himself.
That would be just fine with alot a folks around these parts. Smile

Scott is a great baseball coach, and a good guy. Maybe he will reinstitute himself as head coach for a couple of years and have Kloske as his assistant and groom him into the next Head Coach.

One of the reasons my son is playing outfield is because of Matthew, and he played the Lake Dallas way, all out!! Heard he was coaching the Frosh team there and the parents and kids are impressed with him.
