Does your high school travel to warmer climates?

I have heard of a few teams getting themselves a "little bit" south. What about your school?

Was told about a Spring Training Program for High School teams at Butch Hobson's place.
Maybe it would work for your school?

Chill,
This will be our first year taking a "spring trip". we are heading to baltimore the week after tryouts for a long weekend of on field practice and scrimmages. because this was done on such a short notice we asked the players and parents if they were interested and that they would have to come up with the money. NO one had a promblem. if things go well we might vnture a little further south next year with help of our dugout clube. I know butch runs a winter league for younger kids in that indoor facility that your talking about. not sure if there is a league for older kids. i do konw of one local college team that is using it for scrimmages. if the weather does not cooperate with us before the season starts i might book some time there as well.
Its getting a little easier for our northeast players to get ready for spring. Coach Hobson's program is run at the Hampshire Dome at Hampshire Hills in Milford, NH. Some guys work out with him and others rent the cage up there and work out on their own. Some players are working out at the Nashua Baseball Academy which has the added bonus (for high school players) of being located next to a pizza place. Still others are working out at Sportzone in Derry, NH, Tyngsboro Sports Center in Tyngsboro, MA, or Homerun Park in Lawrence, MA. I believe there's also a facility in Wilton, NH, but I can't think of the name. When my brothers were young they had to wait for the snow to melt before they could play ball - and they had to walk to the ballpark.... up hill... both ways...
mcozart,
We are very lucky that coach Terry Terrill at Riverdale Baptist HS in Upper Marlboro MD has open his facilities to HB. Coach Terrill runs one of the premier programs in the country and we are all looking forward to the trip. should be a great bonding and learning experiece for the boys. bus leaves march 30 and we are hoping to be on the field when we get back........
Chill,

Our players work out through the winter on Sunday mornings with a couple of volunteers in our High School Gym. They can get some swings in in our cage along with a small infield we can set up. We also have two portable Pitching mounds that we can set up as well. Sunday evenings our boosters have purchaced time (2hrs) at Home Run USA in Portsmouth NH. We have two games scheduled right now with a couple of teams on the Cape, weather permitting. Good luck to all this year.

Looking at the weatherman's forecast is not promising is it? I hope your team trip to the Cape comes when there is some clear and much warmer temps.

A good booster club is so vital for our high schools. The club SHOULD go to the head coach and ask him what his "wish list" is?
Ask for three things, in the order of preference, that Booster Club can raise money for you to provide their program. I wonder how those top three things would vary from team to team across the state?

the wish list will be interesting for some schools next year.the dover school board in trimming the budget eliminated officials for scrimmages, some freshman coaches pay, and are looking at travel being paid for by the players.maybe we as boosters will end up paying the way.and thats ok because some kids can't afford to pay.tough times ahead?
