Many who have played against our school in football and baseball do not believe it when I tell them that we have not run sprints in the last 8 years. We have not run them for conditioning, punishment, or otherwise (yes we are running our 3rds for 3 weeks for mental mistakes). No one ran after this weeks games because the mindset of the players has changed. Practice can be set up to get all the sprint/running that a player needs in that 2 1/2 hr workout. Many who feel the need for sprints are prob. also static stretching before games, etc. Finding what works for your players/team is coaching. Doing the same thing every year for every team is not coaching.
Lazy baseball coaches have their players run a lot at practice.
They get to stand around and discuss their golf game.
Then they have their players scrimmage each other.
While they get to stand around and discuss their golf game.
It's a lot of work to run a good baseball practice.
Kudoes to those with the internal drive and work ethic to do it.
