Many, but not all, of the recruiting questionnaires ask for the player's Social Security Number. We have provided this information, as we want to be as complete as possible.

I'm not that comfortable giving that information out as I don't really know how well these questionairres are protected and disposed of.

I was wondering what others thought about this and if everyone is giving the SS number on these forms. It seems that this info shouldn't be needed until much later in the process.

Just leave it blank or write in "available upon request". When/if they really need the info they will call and ask for it.

My favorite card reqeuest from an MLB team a few years back was a postcard that had all the info anyone could possibly need to steal an ID in full view of every postal worker who touched it. We didn't include the ss# and put the card in an evelope for mailing.
