Did a search and could not see this one posted here yet, so apologies if I missed it.
Just wanted to offer a review of this program for those of you 'shopping'.
As long as Will Sanborn is involved with the baseball program at St. Joe's, you can rest assured it will be one of the classier and most productive squads you run across.
It shows in the meticulous care of the baseball facility, and in the quality of that facility which borders on being a minor league park. And it shows in the business like manner that practices are conducted.
Winning the GNAC in 2011, and being a perennial contender also speaks to the quality of player attending the school.
Sanborn's dedication can be seen by attending one of the clinics he puts on where one by one you see him having personal discussions with each attending player. And in those discussions he makes clear who could make it to the field on his squad, what one needs to do if he appears to be falling short, and honest feedback as to whether there is no hope. One of the more value packed clinics my son attended.
And if he is interested you will know by his professional follow-up and maintenance of contact. Visits to the school are planned to maximize the value of the time, including time for parents to speak directly with the coach.
The school itself is located in a beautiful part of Maine, not too far from Portland, and right on Maine's largest lake. And despite the Maine location, the construction of the field is such that it's one of the driest in the area with many schools opting to travel there in favor of having an early season playable field.
Sanborn is the real McCoy. Be sure to check out this D3 GNAC school if you are looking for a good college in the northeast with a great baseball program.
