play in the glvc confrence, it's wood bat, probably the best team then parkside and quincy. I am looking to go to Quincy and maybe Kentucky Wesleyan. St. Josephs has a varsity and JV I heard they carry about 45 to 50 players. I have heard of players leaving from there I guess not good experiences. Very small town with nothing to do. Where are you from?
WoodlanINF#3,

A former teammate of my son's (Scott Seider) at ECC signed with SJC last fall. SJC had also attempted to recruit other ECC player's this spring/summer.

They were pretty agressive in their recruiting tactics by regularly contacting the recruit, setting deadlines and working with the recruit to discuss any issues. They definately will set a deadline for your decision although they may or may not choose to extend the offer at the end of the deadline.

Coach O'Dette and Coach Kurich seem to know their stuff and actively recruit players to make their already competitive team even better.

As Highballs has stated, SJC (DII) is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC website link). The GLVC is a wood bat conference. SJC finished atop the GLVC last year but lost to University of Wisconsin-Parkside in the GLVC tournament.

As was also mentioned, SJC has a JV team that plays a shortened schedule mostly against JUCO teams. SJC has a fieldhouse for indoor workouts/practices, a clubhouse with lockers at Gil Hodges Field where SJC plays their home games. All in all, pretty nice facilities.

SJC is private Catholic institution and is a fairly small school (approximatley 1,000 students) in a small town setting (Rensselaer, IN). I have heard only positive responses regarding their academics.

If he is still perusing these pages, Sdawg34's son is currently attending SJC. Perhaps he can add to this.

If you would like any further information feel free to email or PM me.
BigMW,

Your information is excellent. Hope your son is doing well at his new school. Chase and Scott have some mutual friends and are good buddies.

St. Joes's Baseball team is a close knit bunch of guys, who love to play ball. Last year their defense and pitching were amoung the top 10 in the country. Most of their front line players and best pitchers could do well in division 1, but were maybe an inch too short or an step too slow when they graduated high school. It is a good brand of baseball and getting better every year. Their lineup this year looks outstanding.

It did take my son about a month or two to adjust to the small town, small school but he made friends and met some girls (70% of the student body are athletes) and loves it now.

What position do you play?

In doing research for potential schools my 08 son (its never to early to start thinking), we ran across St Joes. From what I can gather it seems that its a pretty decent school for both academics and baseball. We really like the fact that their conference is wood bat. And from the sounds of other posters, we'll have to keep it on our list.

Sdawg34 - your note that 70% of the student body are athletes, seemed a little high. According to the student body profile on their website, 39% participate in Division II Athletics.
