On Wednesday, April 12:

Stancik and Ball Go Yard; Stone Bridge trounces JEB Stuart 20-1!

R H E LOB (game held at Woodson HS, 5 innings due to 10 run rule)
Stone Bridge 20 13 0 9
JEB Stuart 1 1 8 2
WP-Cullen Koppens (2-0)
LP-Falkenstern

Sophomore 3rd baseman Mike Stancik had a career day, going 3 for 4, hitting a double, triple and a grand slam home run for the Stone Bridge Bulldogs (7-4, 3-3), as they defeated the JEB Stuart Raiders, 20-1 in their final game of the South Lakes/Woodson Spring Break tournament. Stancik, who is hitting .556 on the season, had 4 RBI and scored 5 runs. After Chris Dzurilla knocked in the Bulldogs first run, David Ball followed with a 3 run shot to left center field enroute to a 6 run first inning. Jeron Gouveia, Niko Kolocuris and Dzurilla all collected 2 hits on the day.

Junior Cullen Koppens started on the mound. He went 3 innings, earning the victory in a game shortened by the 10 run rule. Senior Nick Crocoll saw his first action on the mound this season, pitching 2 no-hit innings while striking out 2.

The Bulldogs finish the Spring Break tournament with a 3-1 record (a game vs. Yorktown was rained out and will be played later in the season). Stone Bridge has two critical Liberty District games next week after Spring Break. On Tuesday, April 18 they travel to Reston to take on the second place South Lakes Seahawks. On Friday, April 21, they will host the district leader Madison Warhawks at 6:30PM.

I have been absent from this board ever since the gender wars precipitated by the Men's Forum about a month ago, however things like this roust me from retirement. Where's the sportsmanship in getting on this and other forums (you just couldn't help yourself, could you) and reveling in a rout of a team from a small school that invests practically nothing in their baseball program? Tell me, does that make you feel big? You similarly touted a win over a high academic school in your conference that is at the very bottom of the conference. Most readers on this board don't know how embarrassingly weak these opponents are, so maybe you'll impress them (tho not with your character), but to anyone who knows these teams, you are a complete moron! While you are obviously insensitiive to the athletes at the other schools, at LEAST be sensitive to your son, for he is the object of ridicule given that the only thing it appears he can hang his cap on is wins such as these. My son does not go to any of these schools, has never played your school, and thankfully never will. I hope to never come in contact with parents like you who are so lacking in character that they have to advertise a bad outing by a weak opponent in order to artificially pump themselves up. DISGUSTING!

VA,

It'll be interesting to see what they post after playing these two games, huh? I bet they don't have much good to say then don't you?!

OP
I never thought I'd take the time to post a defense of the Stone Bridge "mouthpiece". But the truth is that jb posts his mini press releases every game, win or lose. I have never seen him bad mouth another school, team, or coach, let alone a player. In fact, jb has often posted congratulations for other teams or players accomplishments. Because he uses the word "trounce" to describe a 20-1 score sounds to me more like accuacy than negativity. In your rush to defend the "sensitivity" of the players of the losing team, sportsmom, you call them "embarrassingly weak", which also may be accurate but is certainly far more negative. This is not the first time I have read your irrational rants attacking some perceived insensitive remark. You've been off for a month, you really need to resume your medication.
Here's an idea. When our team would rout an opponent, we would only post a score that indicated a ten run difference. For example, when we won a game 20-1 in five innings, we'd post 11-1 (5). Accurate? No. In the spirit of the "mercy rule". Heck yeah. Let's not hide behind accuracy as a defense for broadcasting routs like this. It's unsportsmanlike - period. I could speculate on one's need to publish such "accomplishments", but that would put me in the class of amatuer psychology which you find yourself, i.e. one who makes fun of medication, etc. Sensitivity is not equivalent to irrationality. The fact that you resort to personal attacks demonstrates the weak support you have to offer in jbb's defense. And BTW, the 2 schools he is so "proud" to have defeated make fun of their own weakness in this sport, however they're very good in other sports. Perhaps jbb would be better off sending such "press releases" to his kid's grandparents.
VA_Sportsmom-
I will tell you exactly why I started posting Stone Bridge results on this forum (that is, the VA forum).

Earlier this year someone posted that they were tired of only hearing about Eastern (and Central) region teams. They liked hearing information on NoVA area teams. So, I decided to post on this forum. My intention was never to offend anyone. It is very apparent I offended you.

I send write-ups to all of the Loudoun County media outlets. I merely chose to copy and paste that same information here.

I have made a concerted effort to report on every game SB plays, win OR lose. I also have tried (and I think have been successful) in NOT singling out PLAYERS on SB or their opponents for anything negative.

In the future, I will only post SB scores, win OR lose. However, I will NOT post a "modified" score. If we ever win a game 100-0 in 5 innings, I will post as such.

Again, VA_Sportsmom, sorry to have offended you (or anyone else for that matter!). Have a great day!!!!
Old Pitcher/Sportsmom:

Please take chill pill. I watch many regional baseball "posts" and from Forest Park to Madison, from Stone Bridge to Oakton, there is excitement when teams do well. I think the Oakton win over Yorktown earlier this year talked about a 20-0 no-hitter. So? Good for Oakton and the players that contributed. And I'm not sure I saw anyone beefing about that.

That said, I did see the post when Stone Bridge was beaten by Madison earlier this year and the praise went to Jason Farley and the effort of the Warhawks.

I will guarantee you that JBB will post the scores and results. He is fair across the board.
Providing game scores is fine, but posts that contain extensive commentary are quite another, especially when the game is such a route. Is the purpose of the post to let people know the score of the game or to promote particular players? This was obviously not a big game for either team, so why post this article in so many different places?
Exactly. If it's merely another game report (purportedly to meet the "demands" of No. Region fans) why emphasize it with exclamation point in the headline? TACKY. Look, SB is a decent team. They do not need Dads "emphasizing" meaningless blowouts all over the web. You think it reflects "excitement" SW? Right. Like beating up your little sister. In a word - indefensible.
