This is the first time Stanford has offered this camp. It is set up specifically for rising juniors. The format looks similar to Prospect Camp held in June but with significantly fewer participates e.g. 100 vs 400 players (and apparently fewer coaches and scouts). It will be non-residential over the three day Labor Day weekend. Participant selection is lottery based as is the case with the prospect camp. Assuming it will be run similar to Prospect Camp it should be a great experience. Juniors won't have to compete with seniors for attention and all games will be played on Sunken Diamond. My 2011 is hoping to get selected. He had a great experience attending prospect camp in June.
My son is going. He missed the lottery for prospect camp in June and really just wants to get a feel for both the university and the area. I grew up in Palo Alto, so its a chance for me to introduce him to all my old stomping grounds too. SAT's not taken yet, and like most, the reality of acceptance to Stanford and baseball there is pretty slim. But I encourage my kids to explore their options and dream big, while preparing for "sure things" as well. I feel lucky he has a grampa who helps with the costs of these things. Should be a neat experience that will fuel his drive to work hard even more.
After attending this camp i would say that this was one of the best experiances of my sons career. He will have memories that will last a lifetime from all the coaching that went on at this camp versus any other that we have been to. My son is a catcher and the coach they had there was one of the finest we have been around( dont know if i can mention his name)the work he put in with my son you could not put a price on. A few tweeks here and there went from a consistant 2.0 to 1.9 in 1 session, just a couple of small things that others have not picked up on before. Lots of tee work that i think is very crusial to evaluating a swing, my son enjoyed the practices and the games. So i think that the cost was ok for what my son recived from the camp. I would highly recommend this camp for anyone asking about it.
The lodging was sent to us when we were excepted in the camp, we stayed accross the street for 95 a night. We flew into San Jose and it was a 30 min. drive. This camp was also a lottery and we were advised not to make travel arrangements until we were accepted in mid July. I think that if your kid is on the radar his sophomore year he will get in one way or another. As for the scouts there were a few but more of other college coaches. Ryanrod23 if you would like some detailed info on this camp i will IM you.
I copied this over from ILVBB in the Stanford Camp Golden thread:

"The Westin is convenient to Stanford, but expensive for what it is. I wouldn't stay in the city if your kido is going to the camp. It will make for some very long days and a good deal of inconvenience.

If you are looking for better hotels I would suggest; The Garden Court, Stanford Park and Dinah's Garden. The Garden Court is a botique hotel in downtown Palo Alto, you can walk almost everywher and if push comes to shove to sunken diamond. The Stanford Park is a less expensive version of the Westin, but probably nicer. It is located north of the shopping center along El Camino. Dinah's Garden is south of campus; it has been there forever, nice people and a bit cheaper (still expensive becuase it is in Palo Alto)."

Based on his recommendations I have already booked something for this summer. (Thanks ILVBB!)

I would go to tripadvisor and put in "Palo Alto Ca" and look around their site to find the type of lodging you prefer. SFO is closer but as Viking pointed out San Jose is only 20-30 minutes away. Regarding the camp all colleges are in season so I find it difficult to believe there will be very many there. Call them and ask to be sure.
BOF- All colleges that were advertised where there, i did not think that Labor Day weekend was part of the college in season.

When we got our invite they listed the coaches that were going to be there. It was great to also see the coaches at our hotel throughout the evening, the majority of the coaches that came in for this event stayed accross the street at the same hotel we got from Stanford at a greatly reduced price.

I do think even though the coaches cannot interact with you they do watch to see how the kids interact with each other, which can be a powerful tool when it comes down to acctually recruiting our kids. My son did make some new friends, that someday he may play with or against in the future and I think tha t is priceless for a young man.
Ryanrod i saw your son hit the home run with wood he is a powerful kid, you should be a proud daddy.
@Vikingdad.... Thank you very much. Thank God for video. Am really grateful for my wife who shot it at the right time. I was working during MLK but I felt I was there cheering him on. I am really proud of him and seeing him grow and mature. Just sent application today so just have to wait. When do you expect the invites to be sent if accepted? Smile
