I was checking Stanford's on-line roster today to see if a local '08 player had been added to it yet. No roster for this year posted yet, but I was surprised to see 45 names on last spring's roster. Obviously, they'll need to cut the team down to this year's 35-max limit, but is this typical for Stanford? Just wondering. Looks like there were 5 seniors on the team. I'm not sure how many juniors were drafted and signed or how many '08 players will be brought on this fall.

Infield08 - From my many years as a fan, around 35 players is the normal number. Last year it bounced up. Not sure I know why...so better for me not to try and guess.

5 seniors last year, at least 5 juniors signed. And a few more had planned to stop playing after last year all along. 8-9 incoming recruits. I don't know what the "net" is returning?

However, I also know that all current players were well aware of the upcoming changes and where they stood...from the very beginning of last school year. I believe its a 1-year anomaly and not an indicator of future trends.

Just my guess, nothing more. I'm only responding to provide what very little insight might be useful.
Thanks for the responses. I had just mild curiosity and appreciate learning that last year was an anomaly for Stanford. It's good to know that current players were made aware of their future with the program way early in the game so there were no last-minute surprises (unlike at least 2 major D1 programs here in Texas that I've heard about).
