Dear Travel Baseball Fan,

A new elite baseball event called the“Stars and Stripes National Winter World Championships” is taking place over Christmas break week 2011. This National tournament does not conflict with spring, summer, fall, high school or showcase baseball. It’s a once a year chance to put the best talent from around the state together to compete against over 20 other states from around the country, in sunny Orlando, Fla., at the minor league complex of the Houston Astros. It is my honor to be selected as GeorgiaState Director and I have put together a great staff of former professional players, MLB scouts, college coaches and baseball academy owners from around the state to evaluate and select the best Georgia has to offer.

In order to compete on Team Georgia Stars and Stripes, you must attend one of the statewide tryouts. We will offer 5 tryout locations near you. Even if you are not able to attend or don’t feel like you have the skills to compete on the national level in Orlando, these tryouts are still very beneficial. All players will receive a written evaluation from our professional staff that will show you where your son ranks on the national level and comments on how to improve their specific skills. There will be running, throwing and hitting awards given out to the top performers at each event, position specific clinics will be offered throughout the day and all players receive a Stars and Stripes tryout tee-shirt.And if your looking for a travel team to play on for next year, all local travel coaches will be invited to observe the tryouts but will only be provided contact information of players that give permission for such use.

The Georgia Stars and Stripes staff will select at least 2 teams in each age group (9u,10u,11u,12u,13u,14u,15u,16u,18u) to compete in the World Championships December26 – January 1. Prior to that, each team will also compete in a regional tournament October 29-30 or November5-6, depending on your age group and location. Stars and Stripes has also negotiated accommodations for all team members, coaching staffs and families to stay at The Orlando Marriott World Resort while in Orlando, for a great rate of $120 per night. All players selected to play in the World Championships will also receive a home and away uniform package. Teams will be limited to 12 players and 3 alternates. Continuous lineups will be used and no player will sit more than one inning at a time.

All Players must pre-register for a tryout through the website www.starsandstripesbaseball.com. Unfortunately, no walk-up registration is permitted. Initial tryout information is listed below but please check the website regularly for additional tryouts that will be added throughout the fall. The tryout fee for all locations is $115. If you plan to tryout, please register early, as certain tryout locations will have a limit of participants due to field sizes and space.

If you have any questions regarding this event, please email those questions for a timely response. Our staff is located all over the state and one phone number does not reach us all but emails can and will be the quickest way for our staff to communicate with you. We will reply to every email or call you if necessary, so please attach all contact info to the email.

Our whole staff of state directors and coaches are really looking forward to this event. I don’t know of any other event where a true state vs. state competition has been attempted, which is what has us so excited. Georgia is going to Florida in December with over 200 of our top players…ready to compete…ready to have fun…ready to enjoy the holidays with other baseball families from around the country… We hope that you and your family can experience this event with us.

Sincerely,
Trent Mongero
