Starting pitchers more desireable than relief pitchers?

Son just graduated from a FL JuCo where he received little interest from scouts, despite being a 6-3 LHP touching 92 and winning state and conference awards for relief pitchers. He is still considering offers for school this fall. I'm wondering whether his lack of interest from clubs stems from being a closer rather than a starter? Should he consider switching back to starting pitching?
