OK, so it isn't a big deal. Just settle a friendly bet between my son and myself.

Runner on first and third. Pitcher attempts pick-off of runner on first and catches him sleeping. Runner on first takes off towards second.

Runner on third breaks for the plate. The defense, being aware of the situation throws the runner out going home. Runner on first does successfully make it to second.

So, does the runner on first get credited for a stolen base? And does the runner on third that gets thrown out get credited for a Caught Stealing?

NJ Pitch

That was my guess as well. He's mad because he was "the runner on third" and that will mess up his perfect 11-11 on Stolen Bases this year.

I told him to get over it..... duel

He decided to bet me $20 against him washing my truck that he was correct (he didn't get charged with a "caught steeling").

Guess my truck will get washed this weekend LOL
Sorry, shoulda left the bonehead part out. But it is/should be logged as defense indifference and a caught stealing in the books. Sounds like the opposing team was well coached on 1st and 3rd defense. My standard operating procedure is "we only take home on a past ball from 3rd, or a over throw at 2nd if the team for whatever reason tries to get the runner stealing 2nd.

Get a good pitch to hit!!!!
