On behalf of some friends, I am wondering if there are suggestions for what an uncommitted 2013 might do to still get recruited by a D2, NAIA or JUCO.

Are there events they can attend?  Do D2s, JUCOs, NAIAs continue to recruit in summer?

General suggestions?   Thanks!

(PS, mostly a question in this case for Northeast and mid Atlantic.)

I'm in a different part of the country but... in addition to RJM's suggestions..

-Most JC rosters are made up of kids within a local (few county) region, so it shouldn't take much to explore those options in his area.  Also, the local HS coaches and travel coaches usually know these JC coaches on a first name basis, so use any resources there.

-It seems there are often a few "last chance" showcases regionally that schools will look to fill a few specific needs from.

-He may want to try to hook up with a summer college program.  It is late in the game for that as well but there may be a start-up program or one that has a few spots open due to players backing out.

-He probably needs to narrow his school focus a bit.  NAIA's are typically high academic and JUCO's are not (generally speaking).  NAIA's are typically expensive and JUCO's are not.  Does he have a career path idea aside from baseball?  Are expensive private schools an option from a budget standpoint?  Answers will perhaps help him further narrow the targets.  It will be more difficult at this point to consider schools a great distance away.

During the summer season after lhp's and rhp's HS junior year, they had a player (pitcher) on their travel team who had just graduated from high school. He was injured his junior year and was unable to pitch the previous summer. He ended up getting a spot on a D1 roster for the upcoming year. It might be easier for a pitcher to find a spot over a position player, but as the previous posters said, don't give up and get yourself out there any way you can.
