Team:

As a father I have read many posts over the last few years on this overall site but this is only my second post. This site has been very helpful. My oldest son has just entered his senior year of high school in Iowa. Various offers are on the table and some schools need a decision by the 1st of October, etc. to match up with the early signing period in November. Question for anyone who has knowledge about a Division 1 school in Florida called Stetson University. My son has just received interest from them and we need to make a informed and conservatively quick decision as a family about his future. We love the south Florida market for his future in baseball but we don't know a lot about the overall program or school. Any advice would be appreciated. Smile

Stetson is in DeLand, FL, between Orlando and Daytona Beach... Not South Florida, but Central Florida... Great School & Campus, and Great Baseball Facility... Coach Pete Dunn has been there forever... Member of the Atlantic-Sun Conference, Stetson has played some great Top-Teir Programs over the years... Florida, FSU, OK ST, LSU...

-Good Luck
Stetson is a GREAT academic college, with a tremendous reputation in the south (especially for Law or business). Deland Florida is a great little college town. This school is well respected academically.

15 minutes to Daytona Beach.

Fantastic Stadium and local fan support. I have nothing but good things to say about this school and program.

They have qualified for the College regionals numerous times in recent years.

They have placed a number of players in the professional ranks.
Stetson is a great place for the player that wants a great education and doesn't mind playing at a very small school (enrollment2000+K) in a very small town. Very nice facilities for a school that has no D1 football program for support $$$.
Far away from Iowa but he would get plenty of that florida scout exposure for later.
They recruited my son when Kevin Rooney was there.
Also about 30 minutes from Orlando area.

Fantastic is almost an understatement..your son is very lucky (Obviously skilled)...small town close to everything..but not like Gainseville and a raucus party place, my boy has played on that field and won't soon forget it..I've never heard a bad word about the school or the program.
I am a Stetson alum, whose son was also recruited by Coach Rooney at Stetson. The school is located between Orlando and Daytona. Very good quality program and school.

Stetson is well known for their excellent music and business programs. The ball park is off-campus, but is a quality facility. The locker rooms, clubhouse and offices are as nice as any in the state.

Stetson draws fairly well for a smaller school and is well supported by the locals. The team is always competitive in the A-Sun conference and has several pro prospect players each year.

Like other small private schools, they award merit academic scholarships. Certain GPA levels need to be maintained to keep them though.

Go Hats!
